Pressing our noses in excitement against the plane's windows our first impressions of Fiji were of lush and arable land. Farms and plantations were easily identified with villages sporadically dotted around the countryside. The most memorable impact on our senses was the heat. Like opening an oven door, so too is arriving out of the cool air-conditioned plane into Nadi airport. We were greeted with loud 'Bula!'s and wide smiles: a standard greeting for the next ten days. We were going to like this place. |
